Home Builders Foundation team replaces rotted, cobbled-together wheelchair ramp; recipient is VERY grateful

In 2001, Deana C was injured in a car accident and suffered a spinal cord injury. Since then, she's had a tough time getting around in her own home. That is until The Home Builders Foundation, led by team captain Brent Guetz with ProBuild, along with six Weyerhauser employees and vendor TAMKO Building Products to rebuild a wheelchair ramp that had seen better days. Untreated materials on the old ramp were beginning to rot, the surface was slippery and the pitch was steeper than code. She struggled to cobble everything together yet all around, it was a dangerous situation.

The team ripped apart the old ramp and built a new one for Deana — all in one day, with materials donated by TAMKO. After 13 years of just getting by, she now has the freedom to safely come and go as she wants, thanks to the Home Builders Foundation, the HBA's charity of choice, and its dedicated volunteers. Read more...
