 Tina Martelon-Braunthal

The recipient of the HBA’s 2016 Volunteer of the Year Award has served the Denver housing industry for 25 years. Known and loved as a get-it-done leader with an infectious positive attitude, she is willing to do what it takes to make a difference.  Serving in leadership roles in numerous councils, she had made industry partnerships into personal friendships, a fact that she shares is one of her accomplishment she cherishes most.   Through countless volunteer hours, this long standing HBA member, past and current HBA Director has brought council sponsorship fund raising to an entirely new level, recently coaching new sponsorship committee members for multiple councils.

Tina Martelon-Braunthal began her real estate and homebuilding career the latter part of 1991.  While attending University of Colorado at Denver, she was also working full time at Strings Restaurant and trying to decide where her career was headed.  While attending a party of a close friend, she met Al Alba, who was the owner of Omni Vest Realty and also a principal in a development company doing the infrastructure for a semi-custom and design build community in the heart of Greenwood Village called Huntington Pines.

Soon after their conversation, Al found himself in need of a sales assistant. Since she was able to work her schedule with her classes, she accepted.  Tina recounts showing up to the community and having to park on the city street and hike in as the infrastructure wasn’t completed yet.  That little grey trailer and trusty blue prints ended up being her home for the next two and half years.  She was determined to do the job, not as an assistant but as the lead sales person.  Tina got her real estate license in 1992 and began selling for builders such as Bainbridge Custom Builders, Sunshine Master Builders, Richmond Homes, Peregrine and Horizon Homes.  She was a natural!

Tina spent the next 7 years working directly for Richmond Homes, moving into management after two years. It was great experience and a good run, but the long drive to Northern Colorado, a new baby and a declining market was not a good composition for health and happiness.

Tina moved on from Richmond in October 2001, and became the V.P. of Sales and Marketing at Morrison Homes and then held the same position at Meritage Homes.  In both cases, her role was a core part of the startup team and she has taken great pride in the results she accomplished in those organizations.

In 2008, she re-invented herself and somewhat went back to her roots - partnering with a colleague and began marketing and selling for builders as well as private resale transactions.  During this time she connected with Cheryl Schuette and eventually began helping Cheryl with recruiting at JWilliams Staffing.  That relationship lead to her current position as Vice President of Sales & Marketing at TRI Pointe Homes.

Tina has inspired many as MAME Chair, SMC Chair, a founding member of the PWB and PWB Executive Committee, and this year will serve as Co-Chair of the Council Board. Tina is a renowned member of the fun and booze committee, and is a frequent visitor at the HBA.

Tina is the mother of three sons of whom she is proud to brag.  She has been married to Rich Braunthal for 5 years, and spends her free weekends around Denver hanging out while supporting Rich on his two food trucks - Denver 808 Fusion Grindz and Ohana Denver Asian American Fusion.  Congratulations Tina! So many people appreciate all you do.
