HBF finishes 2018 fundraising events with golf outing and luncheon

Luncheon & Golf Tournament raise $150K for HBF projects

Annual Luncheon

400 guests gathered at Marriott Denver South Park Meadows on November 1, 2018 to celebrate the year in review for the Home Builders Foundation. Katie LaSalle from Denver 7 was back as the emcee of the Annual Luncheon, presented by Alpine Lumber. The luncheon was a celebration that included lunch; recognition of three major HBF community groups - board members, annual supporters, and Project Captains; and also featured five recipients helped during the year. The end of the program included an ask for critical program funds. Event organizers estimate that the event raised $70,000 in support of the organization’s program to support individuals with disabilities through home modifications.

“The Home Builders Foundation is an incredible organization which offers home modifications at no cost to individuals with physical disabilities. These modifications rebuild independence for our recipients within their homes and also allow them to access life and our community outside of their homes. We’re proud to stand alongside the Home Builders Foundation, their amazing cadre of volunteers, and their inspiring participants as they continue their important work serving our community.” – Hamid Taha, President of the Presenting Sponsor, Alpine Lumber

“Independence is a really powerful thing for a person with a disability. We look different, but it’s nice to have the same kind of access to basic things like getting outside. Thanks to the HBF, we are now able to simply get into and out of our back yard to be with family and friends.”

All funds raised at the Annual Luncheon will help the Home Builders Foundation meet their mission to build independence, provide opportunities and elevate lives for individuals and families with disabilities in our community.

Clubs for a Cause

128 golfers teed off at The Club at Ravenna on Monday, September 24, 2018 to raise money for the Home Builders Foundation in their annual Clubs for a Cause golf tournament, presented by Boise Cascade. The day featured a “chaos putt” where individuals opted for a chance to be closest to the hole, while all putting together; raffle with fabulous prizes; betting holes and contests; as well as box lunch, dinner and awards reception. The backdrop of The Club at Ravenna made for a beautiful day, raising money – nearly $80,000! – in support of the HBF’s program to support individuals with disabilities through home modifications.

“Boise Cascade is a long-time supporter of the HBF and their work. We are proud to sponsor events, as well as support projects through material and skilled labor donations. We are thrilled to be here as the tournament’s Presenting Sponsor once again as the HBF raises critical funds to ensure a positive impact in our community.” – Dan Merciez, Sales Manager of the Presenting Sponsor, Boise Cascade

The group was also able to hear from a Theresa M and her son, Carson C., who are 2006 and 2018 HBF recipients. They spoke about the impact the HBF has had on their family over the years and with the most recent accommodation, which included a “bachelor pad” for Carson, an 18-year-old with cerebral palsy. When asked to sum up the HBF in one work, Theresa said “Relief” and Carson said “Freedom”.

All funds raised at Clubs for a Cause will help the Home Builders Foundation continue our mission to build independence, provide opportunities and elevate lives for individuals and families with disabilities in our community.
