Highlands Ranch – Shea Homes Colorado was recently recognized by local and national homebuilding organizations for its development and implementation of a strong comprehensive construction safety program.

The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Metro Denver in partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) awarded Shea Homes the highest honor bestowed under the HomeSafe Colorado Partnership granting the homebuilder Level 3 Master Builder status through 2016.  In pursuit of achieving this status, Shea Homes’ employees attended the HomeSafe Colorado Safety Orientation Training Program, HomeSafe Colorado Field Focus Four Training Program, and the OSHA Construction Safety Course.  In addition, the HBA’s Jobsite Committee conducted a jobsite audit and OSHA performed a non-enforcement verification inspection.  The aforementioned training laid the groundwork for creating and positively reinforcing a culture of safety on Shea jobsites. 

The second honor awarded to Shea Homes for excellence in safety is the National Association of Home Builders/Builders Mutual Insurance Company Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE).  Shea Homes was named first place winner in the category of Single Family Builder Safety Program of the Year (greater than 100, but less than 500 home starts per year) for its leadership and commitment to improve construction safety.  The SAFE awards program recognizes the achievements of homebuilders and trade contractors that make safety a priority and an integral element of its daily operations.
