RMG – Rocky Mountain Group Acquires CRE Design Engineering

DENVER, CO – DEC 28, 2016 - The Denver office of RMG- Rocky Mountain Group will soon be adding additional capacity to their staff, due to the A/E firm’s acquisition of CRE Design Engineering of Lakewood, Colorado.

Currently, RMG-Rocky Mountain Group has 15 licensed Professional Architects and Engineers with licenses in 22 states, with over 60 in additional support staff.  The staff members include geologists, design engineers, technicians, CAD operators and administrative staff supporting over 30 years of service throughout the Front Range.  In addition to the Denver office, RMG has a presence in Colorado Springs and northern Colorado through its Greeley/Evans location. The acquisition of CRE will grow RMG to over 80 employees.

RMG is fast becoming the one-stop resource for commercial and residential services that includes: geotechnical, structural and civil engineering, construction materials testing (performed in an AAP accredited lab), architectural design, and land planning. The joining of CRE with RMG will enhance their current capabilities by incorporating an established firm into their Front Range operations.

Commenting on the announcement, John Clarke, CEO for RMG stated, “The acquisition of CRE will further RMG’s ability to capitalize on the growing opportunities in additional markets.   CRE adds depth and experience to our Denver location. When we look at mergers and acquisitions, we look at the culture of the office and hope to find similarities to ours and how we operate; CRE has proven to be what we look for in a Company. We will combine our best practices to strengthen and expand our service offerings, while maintaining the high quality of client service and execution our companies are known for.”

Darin Denton, President of CRE added, "We are excited to join the RMG Team and capitalize on new business opportunities while we strengthen and expand on existing relationships in the construction industry. While providing the same quality service, with very similar philosophies, RMG brings additional resources that will allow staff to more efficiently deliver designs and investigations in a timely manner.”

The acquisition elevates the Company's portfolio as a one-stop, multi-discipline A/E firm.   Specifically, the acquisition brings:
  • Significant engineering resources and field strength to support residential and commercial projects across many of the Company's service lines
  • Greater presence and stability in the Denver market
  • Similar culture of innovation, practicality and reliability
RMG has experienced significant strategic growth for several years   “We continue to push ourselves to run outside of the pack, to be a leader in our industry.  While other companies struggle to meet deadlines due to lack of capacity, RMG continues to search for ways to acquire and service our growing clientele. We are constantly analyzing how we can best serve the industry,” said Clarke.

“We are excited to welcome our talented new team members. We are now in a position to begin integration planning and look forward to learning from and working with our new colleagues. This important acquisition reinforces and accelerates our business development strategy, which includes growth in our core business and expansion in the Denver market,” comments Clarke.
