Play it Safe During National Safety Stand Down Week

A stand-down event is a voluntary opportunity designed to help employers engage their employees in an open discussion about fall hazards and to reinforce the importance of fall protection.

Today marks the start of National Safety Stand-Down Week (May 4-15) — a national campaign started by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to raise awareness about fall hazards and how to prevent them.

Falls are responsible for the highest number of deaths in the construction industry; they account for nearly half of all work-related home building fatalities.

Last year’s stand-down reached more than 1 million workers and OSHA’s goal for this year is to involve more than 3 million works in over 20,000 stand-downs.
