What took you down this career path?
I was destined to be an engineer. By the time I was able to walk, I was playing in the sandbox, building things out of Legos, and redesigning my Micromachine villages.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is that I get to take an empty piece of land and design it and turn it into something useful and significant. Many of the things we design are used by everyone every day like the water distribution system supplying water to your home and business or the roads you commute on. One of my favorite projects I have worked on was the Breckenridge Farmhouse Brewery off Santa Fe.
Any advice for a newcomer to our industry?
Try to get a wide range of experiences, don’t just stick to your specific field.
Why did you decide to be involved with the YLC?
I decided to be involved with the YLC because I wanted to get involved in the home building industry and add to my network of peers in the industry.
Is there anyone that helped you get to where you are today? If so, who and how did you meet?
Jim Jannicke with CVL has mentored me and helped me grow my career. I met him when I first started at CVL Consultants.
Name one of the most memorable experiences you have had in this industry.
The most memorable experiences I have had in the industry are visiting the sites I have designed once they are built. There is a great deal of pride seeing your creation becoming reality.
What are your hobbies?
I love the outdoors. I grew up camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. My favorite hobby today is hiking with my wife and our two dogs.
Name a fun fact about yourself.
I brew beer, mead, and wine. I really enjoy making my own.
