How did you get started in your career?

I received my degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University and began working in the Civil and Industrial Construction Industry for Schmueser & Associates, Inc. in 2001.  From there, I spend a very brief time at Baker Concrete, then on to Pulte Homes from 2005 to 2008.  During the downturn, I spent some time as a Farmers Insurance agent before joining KB Home in early 2013.

Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you to get where you are? And why?

It would be hard to single out one person, as there are a number of people that have had an impact on my career up to this point.  I would like to recognize the following.

Jay Couch – Hired me into the construction industry and passed on a wealth of construction management knowledge.  I worked for Jay at both Schmueser & Associates and Pulte Homes.

Matt Deibel – I worked for Matt at Pulte Homes and he helped me to continue to grow within the Land Development Industry.

Carl Nelson – I worked for Carl at Pulte Homes.  Carl was a mentor to me at Pulte, and was also very helpful in getting me back into land development after the downturn.

Morris Barbera – Hired me into land development at KB Home in 2013 and has been an excellent boss and mentor over the past two plus years.

What accomplishment or contribution to the Home Building industry are you most proud?

I was a part of the land development team for Pulte’s Anthem community in Broomfield, CO for 3 years seeing the community through the construction of a number of the first filings as well as a great majority of the landscape and amenity features that make the community great.  Over the course of my career I have been involved in the development of nearly 1500 lots and look forward to continuing to be a part of Colorado’s growing economy.

Tell us three things about yourself that people do not know!

1. My 11 month old daughter makes me laugh more than anyone I know.

2. I have a passion for almost all things automotive.

3. I enjoy snowboarding.
