How did you get started in your career?

I went to law school after working in the stock brokerage and investment banking field for 8 years.  Although my first few years of practice were in litigation, I joined my husband, Jack Reutzel, and his partners in their boutique land use and real estate practice and developed my common interest community law practice as a complement to that firm’s work representing land owners and developers.  Jack and I joined the real estate department of our current firm, Fairfield and Woods, four years ago.

Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you get to where you are? And why?

I have had so many people influence my career and help me along the way that I couldn’t possibly identify just one person.  At my current firm, I can always find someone in our collaborative real estate group to ask a question or brainstorm a solution.  No matter how many years you’ve been in practice you can always benefit from another perspective and we freely give that to each other.   I also appreciate being at a more full-service firm so I have access to attorneys in other practice areas like corporate law and litigation – it benefits me and my clients

What do you love about the Home Building industry?

I love houses and the innovations that the industry is making to address the changing ways that people want to live.  My primary practice area involves creating homeowner associations and common interest communities, and I enjoy having a hand in creating great community structures that work for the developers and home builders and the homeowners who will eventually live there.

Tell us 3 things about yourself that people don’t know?

  • Even though I love new homes, I’m a serial remodeler and have never lived in a new home!
  • I’d be a pretty decent golfer if I would just learn how to chip and putt
  • I love to stand up paddle board in the summer, and try to do it at least once a week at a lake near my home.
