How did you get started in your career?
I started my career in the homebuilding industry in 2000 with Writer Homes as a Sales Assistant. I honesty wasn’t quite sure what the job was going to entail that I took, but I knew that I enjoyed sales and have always had an interest in architecture and design. I worked with Writer Homes learning the homebuilding industry until 2003. I joined Pulte Homes in 2003 and really found a passion for onsite sales. I was the top sales associate with Pulte in 2004 with sales volume over $13 million and just over 60 net sales. I became highly involved at Pulte with college recruiting and the training of new hires. Again, I discovered a passion for working with professionals who were new to the homebuilding industry and for training. I truly enjoyed being a mentor to the newly hired sales associates, and am proud to say that many of them have moved on to accomplish great things in their careers.
Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you get to where you are? And why?
I am fortunate enough to say that there have been several people who have been influential in my career, one of them being Kathy Curtis. I worked with Kathy early in my career at Writer Homes and we developed a strong rapport and friendship. Kathy joined Morrison Homes as the VP of Sales and Marketing in early 2005 and quickly brought me over to sell homes in a community that had 13 completed inventory homes. I sold onsite for Morrison Homes, which ultimately became Taylor Morrison until 2010. After my second daughter was born in 2010, Kathy approached me and asked if I would be interested in moving into the Marketing Manager/Internet Home Consultant role that had been recently combined. I had no experience in either role, but Kathy had complete confidence and faith in me; and encouraged me to take on the challenge. Her encouragement and belief in my capabilities were instrumental to my success in that role and ultimately my career path.
I have also been blessed with the honor of calling Tina Martelon a mentor and friend. Our friendship developed quickly when we both were invited to take part in a steering committee to re-launch the Denver Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) in 2012. Tina has been an incredible adviser and friend to me over the past several years. I have an immense amount of respect for her and am so thankful for her support and friendship.
What do you love about the Home Building industry?
I love all aspects of the homebuilding industry. My entire career has been within this industry and I can’t imagine not being involved in some aspect.

Anything else you would like to share?
I currently serve on three Boards within the HBA (SMC, PWB, and CBRC) and feel honored to participate in this organization. The HBA has helped my career in so many respects and I encourage everyone to get involved on some level. I have met some of the most incredible, influential, and inspirational people through my participation and have also made lifelong friends.
