How did you get started in your career?

The company began with a leap of faith. After earning a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Colorado-Boulder and completing a professional interior design program, I went to work at an engineering firm where I felt I wasn’t living up to my true potential. It was at that time I decided to drop everything to pursue my dream career of interior design and launched TRIO Environments. My love for design has since taken me down the path of earning a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Design.

Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you get to where you are? And why?

The first was my grandfather who taught me what it meant to have faith, be committed to an idea, business or team, and be impeccable with my word. This all included lessons in passion, perseverance, and the character it takes to never give up. The second was my first Client, Susan Brown. who has since become a dear friend. She taught me that all it takes is one person to believe in you. We have since designed four houses together.

What do you love about the Home Building industry?

I love the collaborative process with our clients throughout the entire project. I love creating pieces of art that help drive business to their bottom line.

Tell us 3 things about yourself that people don’t know.

1.  I collect cocktail table books. I have all different types of large cocktail table books that speak of travels made, people that inspire, or places yet to seek.

2.  New York City and Harbour Island are my favorite places on Earth. They both have a hold on my heart for several different reasons.

3.  My most prized possessions are a hand-written love letter from my husband and an original painting created by my 3-year-old son.

Anything else you would like to share.

I believe everything has meaning in life. For me, great design comes through great life experiences.
