How did you get started in your career?
Upon graduating college with a degree in Communications, I moved to Madrid, Spain to teach English. I did that for 2 years before deciding it was time to pursue a career in graphic design, which I’d always been interested in. I started out doing design and lay-out for a couple of English language publications before finding a job with a small, family run graphics company. I designed everything from posters for city hall events to publications in Romanian and wedding albums.
After 7 years in Spain, I returned to the States to do marketing, promotions and event planning for a Denver based non-profit called Up with People. I was on the road 100% of the time living with host families and planning week-long tour stops for a cast of 100 people. Living and working in a new city every 5-6 weeks was a great adventure and huge learning experience – both personally and professionally – but after a year I was ready to live in a place of my own again.
In December of 2011 I arrived in Denver with the intention of putting down roots. Shortly after, I met Jennifer Williams and began working with her at Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, where I stayed for 2 and a half years. When Jennifer invited me to join the team at KGA in 2014, I jumped at the opportunity and have since become immersed in and learning all that I can about the Colorado home building industry.
Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you get to where you are? And why?
The family who I worked for in Spain – they were incredible bosses and helped me personally and professionally in so many ways.
What do you love about the Home Building industry?
I have only been in the home building industry for a couple of years, and have been blown away by how friendly, helpful and welcoming everyone is.
Tell us 3 things about yourself that people don’t know.
1. I’m originally from Seattle (though I haven’t lived there since 1999). I’ve been lucky to call Honolulu, Madrid and now Denver home.
2. I’m very excited to be adopting a puppy from the Colorado Prison Dog Training Program in the end of October! His name is Spiderman and he is a Doberman Poodle mix.
3. I love stand-up paddle boarding and am always sad when the lakes finally freeze over. I’ve been known to go as early as April and as late as the end of October.
