How did you get started in your career? 

Oh my goodness, I have been in the home building industry for over 30 years.  Let me think, I started my career as a draftsperson working for Danze and Davis Architects in Austin, Texas.  Yes, that was back in the lead holder, graphite and electric eraser days. In that role, I managed the largest builder’s account in Austin, Bill Milburn Homes.

Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you to get where you are? And why?  

There have been so many people who have supported me along the way.  I would say that John Osborn and Cheryl Schuette deserve the most credit.  John was my mentor at Village Homes.  He taught me so much about life and how to balance work, play and family.  Cheryl has always had my back.  She provided many opportunities for me to succeed.  I took those opportunities and ran with them.  She believes in me and allows me to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

What do you love about the Home Building industry? 

I love the people.  A home does not build itself.  It takes a team to build a home.  If you think you can do it yourself, you’re not in business anymore.

Tell us three things about yourself that people do not know?

1)     Many people don’t know that I am married to Barb Anderson of Anderson Marketing Solutions.

2)     I love to ride motorcycles whenever and wherever.

3)     And I was Homecoming King of my High School in Long Prairie, Minnesota.  That’s when I had a beautiful feathered hair style. Not everything lasts forever.
