How did you get started in your career? 

I took a trip abroad in 1999 and after returning, I looked for a unique way to showcase the photos from my travels.  From this search developed a unique picture frame called the "slider."  (Check it out on my website)  Once I realized that I had a product that could sell, I soon thereafter developed another "slider" in the form of a barn door.  Growing up with a General Contractor as a father, I put all of my woodworking skills to good use and eventually took Slider Artworks in a new direction, literally and figuratively.

Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you to get where you are? And why?  

My 89 year old Godfather. Ever since I connected with him in 2000, he stressed the importance of moving from a job search to finding a career.  My dad never wanted me to follow in his footsteps with his business so that door closed, but over the years I simply came to the realization that creating, building, and imagineering was in my blood.  The corporate America path introduced me to an incredible array of individuals, but the work never fulfilled me.  My Godfather often said, "Do something you love and it will never feel like work.” I’m glad I stayed the course and got back into the home building industry because I absolutely love this career path.

What accomplishment or contribution to the Home Building industry are you most proud? 

I grew up in this industry, so it just feels like “home!”  Of course, I have never experienced this type of growth in home building, but I certainly like the opportunities it presents.  Its booming and everyone needs a sliding barn door, in my opinion!  They just makes sense: the doors increase square footage in the home or business, offer easy accessibility, and the best part is that the doors become a statement piece or as I like to say, “functional art!"

Tell us three things about yourself that people do not know!

1.) I’m a 1996 Olympic Games participant

2.) I’ve lived in Antarctica

3.) I love golf

Slider Artworks builds each door from scratch.  We Design, Fabricate, Finish, and Install every door.
