How did you get started in your career? 

I was the Sales/Marketing Director for New Town Builders back in 2008. I started getting interested in solar as we explored different paths in making our homes more energy efficient. As the home building market continued to retract, I decided to jump into this new and expanding industry of rooftop solar. Over the past 8 years I’ve utilized my home building experience and connections to specialize in rooftop solar for homebuilders.

Has there been someone along the way that you credit with helping you to get where you are? And why?  

I began my home builder career with Sanford Homes back in the early 90’s and I could not have learned from a better team of respected industry veterans like Bill Swartz, Mert Moret, Perry Cadman and Clarence Hughes. The home building construction and sales knowledge I gleaned working with this team was invaluable to me as I “jumped” over to the other side of the table to become a solar trade partner.  

What accomplishment or contribution to the Home Building industry are you most proud? 

Initially, over the first few years, getting builders to understand and accept the value of adding solar on new homes was quite a challenge.  I am most proud to now see most Denver builders have some sort of roof top solar available as either standard or as an option.

Tell us three things about yourself that people do not know?

I am a second generation Colorado Native. My lovely wife of 28 years and I have been blessed with 2 fantastic young adult children.

Anything else you would like to share? 

As an industry, we will build over a million new homes this year alone. While these new homes are certainly more energy efficient than ever before, our ever increasing “high-tech” requirements create more energy demand than ever before as well. If each home built would offset just a small percentage of these energy demands with roof top solar, what a tremendous impact that would make economically, environmentally, and in extending the availability of our finite fossil fuel energy resources to be available for our children, their children and beyond.
